Cuchifritos in Spanish Harlem

This place is full of some wonderful authentic Puerto Rican delights.
I had mofongo con pernil.
It’s mashed plaintains cooked with pork fat and then laced with chicharones (fried pork skin) and then pork on the side.
Does it sound like a heart attack? Sure, but it’s a tasty one.
I also had morcillas, which is a blood sausage. And oreja, which is pig ears. YUM.
I brought home some chicharones and some canoas.
The canoa is a baked plaintain with ground beef inside.
Abe was so full that he fell asleep on the car ride home.
My dad was struggling to keep his eyes open and so was I.
But damn is was good.
(It’s on 116th and Lexington for those of you who want to go)
